Day against Child Labour
On 12 June 2002, the International Labour Organisation
started the World Day Against Child Labour.
According to International Labour Organization (ILO),
the term ‘child labour’ is often defined as work that deprives children
of their childhood, their potential, and their dignity, and that is harmful to
physical and mental development.

About International Labour Organization (ILO):
v United
Nations agency for the world of work. It is also a member of the United Nations
Development Group (UNDP).
v Structure:
Ø It is
the only tripartite U.N. agency, that brings together governments, employers
and workers’ representatives of 187-member States.
Ø The
187-member states of ILO comprise 186 of the 193 UN member states plus the Cook
Islands are members of the ILO.
v Motto: ILO’s
mandate as the basis for peace is expressed today as Decent Work for all.
